In mid-January, children’s fashion was talk of the town in Amsterdam. It was that time of year again – time for Kleine Fabriek to prove itself once more as a springboard for outstanding children’s fashion.
Following several changes that had been introduced at the last fair, this year’s Kleine Fabriek began the season with another new look. The entrance foyer had undergone an elaborate facelift, for example. Light displays and wooden modules served as showcases here, especially for small designers and up-and-coming labels, such as Qtie, Louis Le Sec and shoe label Tough Cookie. The different areas had also been jumbled up again. Categories such as denim and urban wear were nowhere to be found. In their place were brands such as Tumble n’Dry, Bellybutton and Naturino, grouped together according to style, image or age group. This brought small brands alongside big players, and interior products alongside fashion. Fashion shows, a DJ set, plenty of pop-up shops and a supporting programme that focused on topics such as visual merchandising and e-commerce all contributed to the fact that the 20th edition of Kleine Fabriek was just as fresh and inspiring as it ever has been.
