A few famous faces were up to their old antics in the aisles as Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Co. presented the new charity project ‘Fashion Comics’ at the Pitti Bimbo. Brands such as Missoni, L’F Shoes and Roberto Cavalli are bringing out a special capsule collection, the profit from which will go to the Love+Children charity project. Despite this slightly more serious side of things, the Pitti Bimbo was still the place to go for fashion, fun and trends in Florence between 22 and 24 January.
Almost 450 labels exhibited at the fair and some 6,700 international purchasers attended the event, to view such brands as Bisgaard, Gallucci and Marc O’Polo. 4,300 Italian and 2,400 international purchasers turned up – a few less than last winter. According to an event spokesman, this decrease can be explained primarily by the absence of Russian and Ukrainian visitors.
Many collections showed a trend towards classic and elegant styles. The new adult fashion understatement can also be spotted in children’s collections. Sporty styles are still proving popular, especially in boy’s fashion – like father, like son, as they say!
